"I have these good days, y'know, where I feel invincible...but then there are a lot of bad days and I remember that nothing, nothing matters, y'know?"
BIOGRAPHY
Earliest available hospital records indicate Robert “Bob” Reynolds was a victim of domestic abuse throughout his childhood. There are no records of criminal charges filed in relation to these reports.
Following a car accident, Reynolds was addicted to orally-administered morphine during middle school, but was able to finish 8th grade before ultimately dropping out less than a year into high school.
Struggling with addiction, Reynolds took a job as a chicken mascot for Alfredo's Bail Bonds but was fired when he attacked a civilian while under the influence of methamphetamine. He has a history of drug related arrest for nonviolent crimes including breaking and entering, larceny, and burglary.
Reynolds also displays an atypical form of schizoaffective disorder bipolar type, possibly hereditary, wherein after the typical cycle of mania and depression he experiences short-term memory loss, forgetting whatever events took place during that cycle.
Reynolds traveled to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in hopes of finding either a purpose in life or more drugs. There, he was approached by a man working for O.X.E. who informed him about Project Sentry. a program involving a trial drug with the ability to turn anyone into the best version of themselves. Seeking fulfillment, Reynolds agreed to take part in the trial.
While the serum was successful in bestowing Reynolds with superhuman abilities, it also exacerbated his mental instability. These feelings manifested as Void, a dark entity who embodied Reynolds' trauma, who promptly turned the two observing O.X.E. scientists to shadow. Upon returning to his normal self, Reynolds was erroneously deemed a failure of the project, and was packed into a containment module and shipped to the O.X.E. Vault for termination.
"Val, you put a serum into someone like Steve Rogers, he becomes Captain America, but you do it to someone this unstable, I mean, who knows what it did to him."
